ENG201 ENGLISH 10 (S1)

Grade Placement: 10……….0.5 credit

Prerequisite: Successful completion of one credit of English 9 is recommended.

This course focuses on a traditional approach to sophomore English. During the sophomore year, students will complete units in speech, drama, literature, organizational skills, research, and library skills. In addition, this course will focus on a variety of writing styles, using correct grammar, sentence, paragraph, and essay structure. The literature units include the study of novels, short stories, poetry, and drama. Oral and written communication skills will be developed in this class.

ENG202 ENGLISH 10 (S2)

Grade Placement: 10……….0.5 credit

Prerequisite: Successful completion of one credit of English 9 is recommended.

This course focuses on a traditional approach to sophomore English. During the junior year, students will complete units in the following areas: American literature, featuring poetry, drama, short stories, novels and essays from the Colonial Period through the twentieth century; and composition, emphasizing clear, concise, correct writing through exposure to exposition, description, narration, argumentation, and research. Other units may be included at the teacher’s discretion.

ENG302 ENGLISH 11 (S2)

Prerequisite: Successful completion of one credit of English 10 is recommended.
